These salmon start entering the river in late July and early August and are here well into the fall of the year. Pound for pound, these fish are considered by many to be the best fighters of all the salmon. Their bright silver scales shimmer as they dance across the top of the water on their tails or do acrobatic maneuvers in the air.

Alaska Silver Salmon Identification

Alaska silver salmon fishing net an average of 8 pounds, but a record fish can weigh as much as 35 pounds. Alaska silver salmon can attain 38" in length and appear dark with "metallic" blue or greenish backs. This species has silver sides and a lightly colored underbelly.
