2012 Fishing Season Coming Soon

It has been a very cold and snowy winter reminiscent of times of old here on the Kenai. We are hopeful that this means we will once again have healthy plentiful runs of king, red, and silver salmon.
The heavy snowfall will give us plenty of water in the rivers come spring.  This could be the year of a new world record - only time will tell. Come and enjoy the bounty of Alaska here on the Kenai River.

Alaska Fishing - Silver Salmon

Alaska Fishing - Silver SalmonIf you want to add a challenge to your Alaska Fishing vacation, the acrobatic silver salmon are the fish for you. These salmon start entering the river in late July and early August and are here well into the fall of the year. Pound for pound, these fish are considered by many to be the best fighters of all the salmon. Their bright silver scales shimmer as they dance across the top of the water on their tails or do acrobatic maneuvers in the air.

Silvers can be caught off the bank in front of our Alaska Fishing lodge but there are also many other options. We can arrange a charter for you on the Kenai or Kasilof rivers, at Seward in the salt water, or we can arrange a flyout silver salmon trip across Cook Inlet.

If you are a fly fisherman, you will want to fish either the upper Kenai River or the Chuitt River on the west side of Cook Inlet. These waters are clear and are wonderful fly fishing areas. A silver salmon on a fly rod is quite an experience.

Picture this...... you're standing knee deep in cool sparkling water. You cast a streamer fly and watch as it starts to sink beneath the surface of the water. All of a sudden your fly rod bends in half and your line peels from your reel. Now a splash and then the flash of a bright silver coho as it dances across the surface. You are now in for quite a battle as you work to bring a trophy Coho to shore. Its an Alaska fishing experience you will treasure for a lifetime!

Come and join us at Krog's Kamp for the most superb fishing in the world and a lifetime of wonderful memories and a place you will never forget. Give us a call today to schedule your Alaskan Fishing trip complete with incredible angling, beautiful scenery and a wonderful stay at our Alaska Fishing lodge!
